First installed in 1990, the La Tania gondola has seen generations of skiers pass through its doors and weathered many seasons. Passengers used to enjoy around 10 minutes ride time… Stood up! This lift certainly added a unique character to La Tania.
But from this winter, it will be transformed! This famous ski lift at the base of the slopes has been refurbished to provide comfort, modernity, and a smooth ride to each and every rider in its new cabins. This integral part of the ski lift system in Courchevel sees almost 400,000 passengers each winter season.
The lift has been completely revamped to make each journey more pleasurable: as part of the upgrade, all 52 bubbles are being replaced by models with 8 seats.
Everything has been designed to improve the experience: panoramic views, comfortable individual seating, wider doors to give easier access, and designated storage for skis and snowboards. Whether you are heading to the slopes with your family or friends or making your first tracks of the day, your ascents will be much easier and more enjoyable.
At the station too, all considerations have been made to help your experience run smoothly. The platforms have been redesigned to make getting in and out of the bubbles much easier. The new fitouts will improve accessibility to provide a more comfortable, pleasant and easy experience for each journey.
“The renovated La Tania gondola, offering the levels of safety, reliability and comfort now expected in the 3 Valleys, will welcome its first passengers from December 2026. It will enhance this exceptional part of the ski area, with its runs through the forest suitable for all levels.”
Hop on board a gondola and be transported to the heart of the épicéa spruce forest. Beneath your feet, the forest whizzes by, the resort fades into the distance and as your cabin climbs, the peaks begin to appear.
Once at the top, an exceptional panorama is revealed. At almost 2000m altitude, you will have an uninterrupted view of the summits. This destination is like a balcony on the mountainside, ideal for taking a moment to admire the landscape before continuing your ski adventure.
Whether you are a beginner or an expert, the top of La Tania gondola gives access to a whole range of pistes and is a starting point from which to discover the 3 Valleys. Here’s what’s waiting for you:
To go back down to La Tania:
On a green run: Plan Fontaine, ideal for learners and with a length of 3.9 km, the track invites you on a peaceful descent in a magical setting as you wind through the majestic spruce forest.
On a blue run: A real joy, Folyères piste passes through the stunning forest of La Tania.
On a red run: More challenging than Folyères, Moretta Blanche offers a varied descent against a beautiful backdrop.
To go to Le Praz:
On a red run: Murette has plenty of character and will give your legs a test.
On the legendary black run: Éclipse, a long black 3.2 km piste with a challenging descent where each turn demands mastery and precision.
To go to Méribel :
Take the Dou des Lanches chairlift, located just a few turns below the summit of the La Tania gondola. From the top of the chair, two blue runs lead down to Méribel: Pic Bleu or Le Boulevard. There’s plenty to explore further afield in the 3 Valleys.
The La Tania gondola also welcomes pedestrians! From the centre of the resort of La Tania, you can easily get onto a bubble lift and be transported to the summits. Once at the top of the gondola, the view is spectacular.
Extend your adventure on foot by taking Dou des Lanches chairlift, a short walk down from the top of the gondola. From here, you can head off to discover the whole 3 Valleys and make the most of the mountains.
If you fancy a delicious bite to eat, head to the Bouc Blanc restaurant and take in the views. A wonderful way to reach new heights and enjoy the mountains without needing to ski.
