A new look for the Chenus lift!

Discover the new Chenus gondola

Zoom in on the work in progress

In Courchevel 1850, there’s a new construction taking shape… It’s the brand new Chenus bubble lift, made by POMA. After the initial installations commencing last year, and the rerouting of the cables at the Croisette, serious work began at the end of the winter season with the first major step: taking down the old lift. The aim: a brand new gondola lift that's more efficient, faster and, above all, much more comfortable!

For several months now, the teams have been in full swing. Things are busy on the ground, with hoisting, assembly, fine-tuning… The objective is clear: to welcome you from the start of next winter season with a ski lift that rises to your expectations.

A new ski lift, a new experience

From this winter, get on board the Chenus gondola for a whole new experience! Discover the next-generation bubbles, completely redesigned to take up to 10 people. The new lift guarantees you will travel in comfort, whether you are with your family, friends or solo.

In total, 54 gondolas will operate on this line, passing over only 11 pylons in place of 15 before – and that’s not counting those of the Coqs chair, which has been removed. This new lift will carry 2,400 people her hour. How? Quicker boarding, less waiting, and a fluid journey to the top, with no change to the route with which you are so familiar.

In terms of the environmental impact, the new installation is taking shape responsibly. The top lift station is already equipped with 336 m² of solar panels, which will produce renewable energy. A system of collecting water from melting snow has been installed, which will give a saving of 750 m³ of water per year. The materials from the old lift have been recycled.

But that’s not all, the new lift station in 1850 will be ideally situated at the heart of the snow front, giving more practical access at the bottom of the slopes and from the road, to make the ski area more accessible. And once at the top, you can visit the new interior, fitted out to be perfect for relaxing or refuelling between descents.

Philippe Mottier
Co-Manager of Courchevel’s Ski Lifts
“The new Chenus gondola, combining modernity, the latest technology and sustainability, will welcome its first passengers from December 2025. It is designed to minimise its environmental impact and offers comfortable, quick and efficient access to the summit of Loze.”
Ski de printemps à Courchevel

(Re)discover the summit of Chenus

At almost 2,240m altitude, the peak of Chenus is a go-to destination in Courchevel! Whether you come to ski on the surrounding pistes or just to take in the views and the mountain air, this summit promises magical memories, no matter what level of skier you are or whatever you want to explore once at the top.

Admire the peaks and valleys

From the summit of Chenus, take the time to admire the panorama: an uninterrupted view of the iconic mountain range of Les 3 Vallées, as well as the Savoie and Haute-Savoie’s highest peaks, such as the Grande Casse, against a backdrop of Mont Blanc.

It’s the ideal spot to relax and enjoy a pause, take some photos and make the most of the Alpine beauty.

Enjoy the slopes, no matter what your level

Whether you are a beginner or an expert, the summit of Chenus is an ideal point of depart to access numerous slopes and explore the 3 Valleys ski area. Try these runs:

To go back to Courchevel 1850:

  • On a green run: take Loze Est for a gentle descent.

  • On a blue run: opt for the nice and accessible Anémones

  • On a red run: choose between Chenus or Coqs for a more technical descent

To go back to Courchevel Le Praz or La Tania:

  • Take the red run Lanches which leads you to either one of these villages.

For quick access to the Col de la Loze sector and for the link with Méribel:

  • On a blue run: follow Arolles for a smooth and panoramic descent

  • On a red run: take the Lanches slope which is more challenging

These two itineraries take you to the Dou des Lanches chairlift, a key junction to quickly get over to Méribel and therefore explore the best of both valleys.

Go straight for the Eclipse piste:

  • THE black run, host to the World Champions in 2023. A demanding run, for advanced skiers looking for thrills! Read the dedicated article.

Relax during the day

After a fun-filled morning, take a much-deserved pause at the top of Chenus. Two options are available:

  • Savour a gourmet moment in one of the area’s four restaurants (Bagatelle, Le 1928, the Soucoupe or Bouc Blanc)

  • Bring your own food for a simple and convivial meal in our specially fitted out picnic area.

With uninterrupted views of the surrounding summits, it’s the ideal spot to refuel whilst enjoying the landscape.

Take a trip, even without skis

Experience Chenus as a pedestrian! Take the new Chenus bubble lift (easily accessible from the main road) and enjoy the ride.

Once you are at the top, head to one of the nearby restaurants and simply enjoy the views. If you fancy stretching your legs, walk up to the Col de la Loze. There is also a cross country skiing track at the summit if you are tempted to have a go at this activity.
