Make the most of spring skiing in Courchevel

Spring : the perfect time to head to the slopes!

There’s no doubt about it, March and April are still ideal for making the most of the slopes!

It’s sunny and the snow is nice and soft, and morning conditions are still great, especially with Courchevel’s famous piste maintenance. Fill your days skiing Courchevel and the 3 Valleys in the morning, then enjoy après-ski in the sunshine to relax and recharge your batteries!

Find out what not to miss this Spring in Courchevel.

Three reasons to come and ski this Spring

Wondering what Spring skiing is like? Let us show you the advantages of Spring skiing: ideal weather, quieter slopes and the best après-ski to finish the season in style!
Reason n°1
Ideal weather
It’s Spring, and that means the sun is back in town! With longer days and warmer temperatures, you can ski from 9am to 5pm, make the most of every moment in the sunshine and recharge your batteries with plenty of vitamin D (or should we say, “vitamin ski”?!).
Reason n°2
Quiet slopes
Picture it: your favourite ski slopes, all to yourself… Imagine yourself sliding down Lac des Creux from Saulire, or flying down Montagne Russes in Moriond, almost alone on the piste. This is what Spring skiing is all about: making the most of each turn and each descent in total calm, as if you had the slopes to yourself!
Reason n°3
Après-ski in the sunshine
It’s springtime, and there are so many ways to do après-ski! As the sun warms the atmosphere, you can chill out and soak up the sun on a restaurant terrace after your morning’s skiing, or if you’re still full of energy, try one of the many activities and experiences on offer in the mountains.

The best places to ski in springtime

In Spring, the snow is softer – optimal conditions for some people, but not everyone’s cup of tea! But don’t worry, because we can help you find the best snow to suit your ski style. Whether you prefer firmer pistes or softer ‘corn snow’ after freeze-thaw conditions, there’s an area for you, no matter what level you are.

For novices and fans of gentle runs

Whether you’re a novice or looking for some gentle pistes, soft snow is ideal for you! Head to the snow front in any of Courchevel’s villages to make a relaxed start:

  • Nursery slopes with ‘magic carpet’ lifts: head to l'Envolée in Courchevel Le Praz, the Kodiak Area in La Tania or the Western Ski Park in Courchevel Moriond, perfect for having fun whilst finding your ski legs.
  • Button lifts: try the Mickey beginner zone in Courchevel Moriond, the Altiport, Jardin Alpin or Bellecôte runs in 1850, or the Roys button lift from Courchevel Village.

When you’re feeling ready, head up higher to reach the summits.

For people looking for adventure

In Spring, snow conditions are still favourable, and above all at high altitude. To make the most of the mountains, head to the resort’s summits: the Saulire and Chanrossa areas have well maintained snow conditions, ideal for skiing. Top tip: head out earlier rather than later, whilst the snow is still firm and you can get more runs in before the sun warms it up!

Don’t forget that the whole 3 Valleys ski area is still accessible, which has unmissable spots such as Mont Vallon in Méribel, the Col de Thorens in Val Thorens, and Pointe de la Masse in Les Menuires. These sectors offer amazing high-altitude days out on your skis, even in springtime.

What to do after skiing?

Spring is the perfect time for relaxing and enjoying the moment. After a great time on the slopes, it’s time to chill out!

Get your fill of Vitamin D on a restaurant terrace!

In Spring, after a long morning on the slopes, there’s nothing better than relaxing in the sunshine over a well-deserved lunch! With mild temperatures and the air warmed by the sun’s rays, it’s the ideal moment to tuck into a delicious meal or sip a cool drink on the terrace. In Courchevel, the options for making the most of the sunny days are numerous:

  • Casserole in Courchevel Moriond, at the entrance to the Indiens piste, will treat you to flame-grilled meats, 7-hour slow-cooked lamb, free range chicken and home-made desserts.
  • Cave des Creux, on the Altiport piste in Courchevel 1850, offers unbeatable views of Mont Blanc and is an ideal spot for a meal on the mountainside.
  • Bouc Blanc in La Tania, a cosy refuge at the top of the Tania bubble lift, invites you to taste local cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere after a morning’s skiing.

Find all the resort’s restaurants on the 3 Vallées app.

Activities off the slopes!

Fancy trying a new experience? What about paragliding? From Col de la Loze or Saulire, you can get a genuine bird’s eye view of the mountains and valleys, whilst enjoying a memorable flight in the skies.

If you fancy something a little calmer, get yourself to Aquamotion in Courchevel Village. This wellbeing destination is ideal for relaxing those muscles with its indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzis, saunas and spa.

For nature-lovers, how about snow-shoeing? The resort’s marked trails are a great way to see the mountains in a whole new light.

Whether you’re looking for wild new experiences, relaxation or an afternoon connecting with nature, Courchevel has all you need for a perfect afternoon after a great morning on the slopes!

In summary, springtime is the perfect season to enjoy a full mountain experience. Skiing, relaxation, new adventures… Everything comes together for an unforgettable trip. From your first descents to lunch on the terrace, walks and après-ski, Courchevel is the place to be for unique Spring experiences!
