What's now on the ski area Courchevel - Winter 2023

What's new on the Courchevel ski area

Great discoveries to make this winter

The Loze Courchevel nest: an authentic cocoon where time stands still At the summit of Loze in the direction of Courchevel, you’ll find a charming chocolate box chalet – a new mountain hut in which to enjoy a break from skiing.

Accessible to two separate groups, you have a choice of view: do you prefer to look across the slopes or over to the Vanoise glaciers? It’s a perfect nest for spending some time with family or your other half, to rest your legs or just to take a quick Instagram shot!

The ‘Géné'piste’ by Snowleader in Courchevel: a challenging and original ski-touring route From this winter, discover the Géné'piste by Snowleader. A new ski touring piste in the wilderness between plains and forest, 2.8km long and 528m altitude difference, allowing you to ski tour in safety within the ski area of Courchevel Moriond. Race against time with the Rebloch’team ambassadors and meet the Snowleader team during the friendly gourmet gatherings! The start is next to the Granges drag lift and the top is the summit of Signal chairlift.

Buy your tickets last minute thanks to the new ticket machines at Courchevel and Méribel Forgot to order your ski passes online but you know exactly what you want and don’t need to talk to an advisor?

Our ticket machines are ideal for all sorts of purchases, and you will find them this winter in three locations: Courchevel Village at the Grangettes gondola, in Courchevel Moriond in the hall on the snowfront and the Hameau residence in Méribel-Mottaret.

From solar panels on the roofs of Courchevel’s ski lifts Snow and sun can make a great mix! We’ll prove it this winter with the installation of 450 solar panels on the roof of the Ariondaz gondola lift in Courchevel Moriond.

We chose this building as it enjoys a sunny position for the majority of the year, it will give production of 188 megawatt hours which will be directly redistributed so the S3V grid and should be enough to run the Ariondaz gondola!

This is just the beginning of some large-scale projects; our green plan leading up to 2025 is founded upon more use of green and local energy. Solar panels will be installed on our mountain reservoirs and other roofs, as well as hydro-electric energy production which doesn’t require creating underground channels, so zero impact on the flora, fauna and the landscape. Through this three-year plan, the S3V is clearly committing to its ambition to make the ski area less impactful and more sustainable.

In the neighbors resorts

Dare to explore further!

A new black run in Méribel Mottaret: Ibex (formerly known as Bouquetin) Located under the Bouquetin chairlift, the IBEX piste, which used to be called Bouquetin, starts at 2700m altitude and is reappearing after several years of absence. As soon as you get off the new Bouquetin chairlift, seek out this natural and challenging slope for a couloir run which is 600m long and descends 300m in altitude.

Marked ‘Vertical Experience’ along with the similar runs ‘Couloir Tournier’ and the ‘Grand Couloir’, this piste offers you the chance to bag a hat-trick of three challenging (and secure) steeps.

A new ‘space’ theme for two slopes in Val Thorens “Piste de l’Espace”, is a fun zone which combines snow tunnels, gongs to ring, and Valthy, the resort mascot, and his friends: ideal for families visiting Val Thorens, aka The Moon!

For the more adventurous, head for the “Spatial Experience” at the Family Park in Val Thorens. Discover the perfect trio for new sliding sensations: whoops, arches and boxes.

A snowy terrace for a contemplative pause opposite Mont Vallon A view of the highest summit in Méribel, the iconic Mont Vallon, an insta-perfect photo by the huge Méribel sign and plenty of benches for your picnic… Head to the start of the Bouquetin chairlift for your ideal picnic spot! Le Roc: ski touring for beginners in a new marked area in Méribel A ski slope for going uphill! Ski touring is all the rage, and here you can discover it in safety, on an easy route which is right next to the ski area.

From the top of the Chalets gondola, stick on your skins and off you go for a ski touring experience which is not too difficult: 2km long and 370m of altitude ascent, it takes you towards the Chalet du Lac. Once you get to the top, you can pop into the chalet for a rest and enjoy the views before skiing down!

In Méribel Mottaret, you’ll never run low on batteries Cold is the enemy of battery life! So that you can stay in touch with your friends and loved ones, send sweet nothings or photos to make everyone jealous, you’ll find free smartphone charging points dotted around the ski area of Courchevel and Méribel-Mottaret. How does it work? Place your phone in a box and close it securely using a pin code of your choice, head up to do another run or check out the views, then collect your charged phone and carry on with your day!

Where to find them:

On the platform of snow in front of Mont Vallon and the top of Plan des Mains, Plattières, and the start of Bouquetin. At the hut in the OPEN AREA snowpark, so you can watch the freestyle moves of the experts while you wait! A photovoltaic centre has been installed on the middle station of Méribel’s Saulire Express This year 182 solar panels have been installed on a surface of 400m2 on the middle station of the the Saulire Express lift.

The 149 cells on both the upper and lower faces of the solar panels maximise production. A perfect innovation adapted to the alpine winter environment.
