    New on the slopes
    Courchevel & Les 3 Vallées

    Reading time : 3 min

Improvements, challenges, discoveries… Just because every year we want to surprise you when you visit our ski area, each winterwe add a little something new that we know you’ll love! Youdon’t need to worry about getting bored on the slopes of the 3 Valleys: we will always have a little surprise up our sleeves for you to discover when you are out and about on the mountain…

    BOUQUETIN
The new chairlift replacing Plattières 3

Bye bye to the vintage bubbles of Plattières 3, and hello to Bouquetin, a brand new chairlift!
With skis on your feet and a comfortable seat, you’ll love our new 6-person chairlift: in just 2 minutes, you’ll be at the top, admiring the view from the Mont de la Challe plateau before heading down the slopes towards Les Menuires or Saint Martin de Belleville.
Also accessible to pedestrians, the descent of the Couloir du Bouquetin definitely has the ‘wow factor’!

    WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023
"En route" to the World Cup !

    The Eclipse Challenge

The stage on which the Alpine Skiing World Championships will be played out in 2023: the new black run ‘Eclipse’ opens this winter for all you aspiring champions!
To experience an eclipse is to become aware of the power and beauty of nature. Along the entire three kilometres of this black run, you’ll feel the same sense of marvel.
On the start-line, you’ll need to steady your nerves as you contemplate the slopes which averages 30%. After launching into your descent, you’ll head straight for the forest, where, all of a sudden, the sun disappears…

A challenging few minutes of flying down the 940m vertical descent and you’ll arrive at the finish line, victorious, in the heart of the village of Courchevel Le Praz, where you’ll bask once again in the warmth of the sunshine and the feeling of pride, having conquered the Eclipse.
Sharpen your skis and your senses to discover this new piste which is set to become an integral part of the history of Courchevel.

    Tunnel & Footbridge

With the Roc de Fer tunnel, you can make the most of the full ski area even when there’s a race happening!
Thanks to this new addition, you can ski the fabulous Roc de Fer area with its iconic pistes even when the race champions are whizzing down the competition slope!
And as for the footbridge, it will help skiers on the Raffort piste who are staying in the village or returning to Brides les Bains. You won’t need to go down then up the steps to access the Olympe gondola, you can simply walk straight across from the piste! An opportunity to (re)discover the new red runs which were opened last year: Daguet and Gypaète.

    READY FOR A CHALLENGE
    Freeride & Off-piste

Vertical Experience - The steepest runs in Les 3 Vallées

At 38.6° at the steepest and with an average of 33°... You had better have nerves of steel when you commit to launching yourself down these two black runs! If you think you are ready to handle steep slopes, then head to the top of the iconic Saulire summit to try out the Grand Couloir (towards Courchevel) or the Couloir Tournier (towards Méribel): a sensational ride guaranteed!

What's new in the Freeride Lab ?

For the freeriders among you, Courchevel’s secure freeride sector keeps on growing… This season, no excuses for not practising your transceiver training: our new avalanche park is opening at the foot of the two ungroomed Freeride Lab pistes.
How does it work? Access to the Freeride Lab is 20 minutes on foot or ski touring. Snap some photos beside the wooden installation and head off into the powder for a magical descent! At the bottom, take some time to learn or practice your avalanche rescue skills.
Using your transceiver, probe and shovel, you can dig to find the beacons hidden beneath the snow. To train further, you can also specify the number of ‘victims’ to search for, and give yourself a time limit. Safety remains our upmost priority and this area is a great way to keep up with the training skills that could save lives.

    TIME TO PAUSE ...
    Or strike a pose !

    Pausing to admire the views

Whether you need time out for a quick snack, to give your legs a rest, or just a moment of calm, a new space on the pistes of Courchevel Moriond has been created just for you !
Opposite the impressive ridgeline of the Brèche de la Portetta – the unusual rocky peaks that could have been borrowed from the Dolomites – this plateau area has been designed as a perfect spot for a break: picnic tables, giant wooden deckchairs, a new giant photo frame…
Admire the beauty of the mountains and inhale the fresh mountain air, you deserve it after this strange year!

     Les Menuires
The picnic spot at the top of the Roc 1 chairlift in Les Menuires or the sunny terrace at the ‘Pixel Area’

     Val Thorens
The piste-side chalets, for example beside Gentianes in Orelle or at the summit of the Moutière chairlift.

    In the picture: photo frames

Don’t visit the 3 Valleys without having your photo taken in one of the many photo frames dotted around the ski area.
What’s new this winter? Six of the 12 frames have been decorated by the work of illustrator Lauriane MIARA. Simple, pure lines give her work a real feel of the mountains.
We can’t wait to see your photos on social media!

    I love Courchevel

An unmissable part of any Courchevel holiday: A photo on the huge wooden sculpture at the summit of La Saulire!
With a stunning background of snowy peaks, it’s time to strike a pose for an epic memory of your ski trip in the Three Valleys. A perfect insta moment!

Hey Dad, what's that mountain called ?

Even though you know the 3 Valleys like the back of your hand, you can’t always have an answer for everything. So that’s why we’ve put a panoramic map at the top of Saulire, to help you name all the surrounding mountains: Barre des Ecrins towards Briançon, Aiguilles d'Arves in the Maurienne, Mont Blanc’s Italian side... You’ll be able to spot them all as you ski!

Located at the summit of the Pas du Lac gondola.
